Jeff Van Gundy on the NBA and domestic violence
On the topic of Derrick Rose during a Knicks-Rockets preseason game, ESPN’s Jeff Van Gundy had some very strong thoughts regarding domestic violence and the NBA (read much more here):
Michael Irvin and Marshall Faulk question Phil Simms’ weird love of Blaine Gabbert
For some reason, Phil Simms acted like San Francisco 49ers Blaine Gabbert was an incredible quarterback while Gabbert was — as usual — playing badly in a 49ers loss on Thursday Night Football. Even NFL Network analysts Michael Irvin and Marshall Faulk were mocking Simms for it after the game (which had just aired on this same network):
Bulls announcer Stacey King had a tough time with the name Giannis Antetokounmpo
CSN Chicago’s Stacey King really struggled with his pronunciation of the name Giannis Antetokounmpo during a Bulls-Bucks preseason game. Just call him the “Greek Freak” like the rest of us do, Stacey.
Home runs keep happening during in-game interviews; Pedro Martinez, Gary Sheffield, Jimmy Rollins, and Casey Stern sing “Oh Canada” after Blue Jays advance to the ALCS
I went on a bit of a rant about in-game interviews during MLB games after — for the second straight night; here was the other— a postseason home run was hit during an interview. This one was particularly awkward as TBS reporter Matt Winer had no idea a home run (from Elvis Andrus) had been hit as he was focused on the interview:
And then after the game, TBS’ MLB studio crew decided to pay tribute to the Blue Jays moving on to the ALCS with a rendition of “Oh Canada”. If you never thought you’d see Pedro Martinez singing “Oh Canada” on television, well, you were wrong.
Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth crack up at Odell Beckham Jr. hugging the kicking net
Odell Beckham Jr. made an incredible touchdown catch on Sunday Night Football, and after the play, made up for a rough recent incident with the kicking net, by giving it a hug. Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth loved it.
