For years, CBC and now Sportsnet have provided a Punjabi-language call of Hockey Night in Canada and subsequently, the Stanley Cup Final. Hearing hockey in Punjabi is certainly a different experience for those accustomed to hearing the game called in either English or French.
As the Pittsurgh Penguins and San Jose Sharks were tied 2-2 in the third period, Penguins center Nick Bonino scored late in the third period to put the Pens on top 3-2 and that is how the game would end. The Punjabi announcers gave their call of the goal their all complete with a “BONINO! BONINO! BONINO!” that would make Spanish-language soccer play callers proud. Here’s the call from Harnarayan Singh. Take a listen:
But that wasn’t the best move of the night. Check out the Bollywood song after Conor Sheary scored Pittsburgh’s second goal. Yes!

If this is any indication of what we could hear from the Punjabi announcers for the entire series, then we might be in for a great ride.
