This past offseason’s move of the St. Louis Rams to Los Angeles has sparked plenty of mistakes, but you’d think outlets would have figured it out after 14 weeks of the NFL season. You’d be wrong, though. When the Rams fired head coach Jeff Fisher Monday after a 4-9 start to the season and a 42-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, ESPN.com appears to have ran with a St. Louis headline. Here’s a screengrab from Myles Simmons, who works for the Rams’ website:

Maybe this is a case of a pre-written obituary that wasn’t updated properly? After all, Fisher was just 27-36-1 with the Rams heading into this season (although they somehow still extended his contract before the season, perhaps aided by his agent being the father of the team’s COO) and was approaching the NFL’s all-time losses record (which he tied Sunday) without any of the success of the other coaches near the top of that list, so his firing wasn’t exactly difficult to predict. Alternatively, this could be just a simple slip of associating “Rams” and “St. Louis.” Either way, it makes for a funny screengrab. ESPN seems to have caught the error quickly and fixed the headline, but their URL still shows St. Louis:
