After predicting a sweep by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Stephen A. Smith was forced to apologize to the entire nation of Canada for disrespecting the Toronto Raptors on Monday night.
The Raptors evened up the Eastern Conference Finals with LeBron James and the Cavs at 2-2, thanks to a 105-99 victory at Air Canada Centre. This led to Stephen A. Smith issuing his apology to Canada on SportsCenter, because he is a man of his very loud and outspoken controversial word.
At this point, is there anyone in North America that Smith has not apologized to live on ESPN’s dime?
It was just the other day Smith admitted “I didn’t see this coming” after the Raptors took Game 3, but he focused on how he felt the Cavaliers embarrassed themselves in the game (which they kind of did, to be honest). But Smith is known to make statements and stand by them, and this was honestly one of the least offensive ones he has said during his time at ESPN. This is not the same kind of apology Smith has had to make in the past, but it just goes to show sometimes he can’t say anything without it coming back to bite him in some way.
As for Canada’s reception? Well, it hasn’t gone over too smoothly.

Also, it looks like ESPN is milking Smith’s contract for every penny he is owed…
