If the 2004 Red Sox are any indication, the 2016 Cubs will inspire innumerable books. Four different players will publish memoirs of the season, long-suffering fans will pen breathless tributes and every writer in Chicago will want to take a crack at the defining Cubs tome.

The book, published by Crown Archetype, an imprint of Penguin Random House’s Crown Publishing Group, will come out on March 28, 2017.
“The Chicago Cubs’ dramatic triumph in winning the World Series Championship for the first time in 108 years was the greatest sports story of the year and one that will endure in baseball lore,” Crown Archetype Vice President and Editorial Director Tricia Boczkowski said in a press release. “THE CUBS WAY is a celebration of this iconic team and an exploration of their journey to breaking the longest curse in baseball. We’re thrilled to have Tom Verducci, one of the most respected sportswriters today, narrating their inspiring and historic story.”
According to SI, Verducci had “full access” to Epstein, Joe Maddon and the Cubs’ roster. The longtime SI scribe covered the Cubs in the NLCS and World Series as an on-field reporter for FS1, and he wrote some incredible features on a short deadline.
This is arguably the best baseball writer of this century publishing a book on arguably the best baseball story of this century. Get ready to pre-order.
