Amazon is further expanding its slate of sports documentaries, announcing four new projects for Prime Video.
The first new series ties into Prime Video’s NASCAR deal. It will be a documentary about the Earnhardt family and “promises a profound, revealing, and definitive account of a historic American family.” Imagine Documentaries, NASCAR Studios, and Everyone Else are producing the doc.
Another untitled documentary will focus on EA’s Madden NFL video game series. The film “reveals the never-been-told story of Madden NFL, from its archaic 8-bit origins to its success as an annual must have—against all odds.” Cameras will be embedded with EA as the company finishes up the latest edition of Madden, and the company is also cracking open its archive of footage for the doc. The Madden doc is produced by A+E Factual Studios group, SMAC Productions, Misher Films, and MTP.
Game 7 comes from Connor Schell’s Words + Pictures, Game 7, and Jersey Films 2nd Avenue, with Daniel Amigone directing. The five-part series delves into (what else?) Game 7 across sports, featuring “first-hand accounts from the athletes that participated in these high-stakes showdowns.”
Finally, there’s ChiefsAholic: A Wolf in Chiefs Clothing, which comes soon after ESPN released a shorter feature earlier this year. The doc “unravels the story of Kansas City Chiefs superfan and serial bank robber Xaviar Babudar” and includes interviews with Babudar himself. Dylan Sires directs, while DreamCrew Entertainment, North of Now, and Five All in the Fifth Entertainment produce.
No release dates have yet to be announced.
