Throughout his NFL career, Tom Brady crafted a reputation as a consummate winner and fierce competitor willing to do whatever it takes to be a champion.
Those traits certainly worked well for Brady on the field, but they tend to be the same kinds of characteristics that make someone insufferable off the field.
A few days after Brady questioned why Scottie Scheffler needed to prioritize his family over his golf career, the arrival of a new docuseries offers further insight into just how intense it is to play for team owner Brady.
Brady, who bought a minority stake in the Birmingham City soccer club in 2023, visited the UK last September for a match against Wrexham, the club owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. He was joined by soccer superstar David Beckham as well.
As featured in Amazon Prime Video’s docuseries Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues, which follows Birmingham’s promotion to the EFL Championship last season, Brady apparently lashed out at a staffer who suggested Beckham shouldn’t receive a Birmingham gift bag given the former Manchester United star’s lack of affiliation with the team.
“That’s f*cking stupid,” Brady said. “Give him a gift bag to take home. It’s a sweet thing. He doesn’t have to wear it.”
Brady also came off fairly intense in the trailer to the series, in which he’s seen discussing how things will change now that he’s involved.
“I don’t give a f*ck what they’ve done here, I wasn’t a part of that,” says Brady in the trailer.
In the series itself, Brady also went hard at former Birmingham manager Wayne Rooney, who was fired in early 2024 after the squad was relegated.
