It’s one of those occupational hazards for announcers who broadcast games at courtside. Before today’s West Virginia-Notre Dame game at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, Verne Lundquist and broadcast partner Jim Spanarkel were doing their last-minute broadcast prep when a loose ball bounced towards press row right at Uncle Verne and you can see what happened:
Verne was ok. And there didn’t appear to be any breaks to his glasses. Tayvon Myers of West Virginia quickly apologized, but it resulted in these great screengrabs:
