The Colorado Buffaloes are coming off three straight wins, but as they prepare to face Kansas State Wildcats, head coach Deion Sanders has an issue with the kickoff time.
The game starts at 8:15 pm local time (MT) on Saturday.
“Who does that to us?” Sanders said on the latest episode of Colorado Football Coaches Show. (h/t Fox News) “Who has the power to sit up there and say ‘Yeah, I’m going to make them play at 8:15 (local time)?'”
Host Mark Johnson made a good point saying that the times are typically picked out due to popularity. Who wouldn’t want to see a 4-1 team being led by a Hall of Famer?
“But how stupid is that? How stupid is that?” Sanders said. “It’s not smart for a television executive to say we’re going to put this game on at this time because you’re thinking about eyeballs. You’re thinking about selling merchandise on the commercials. You’re thinking about all that. Why would you do it at that time when half of America is asleep.”
Sanders is just the latest coach or AD to chime in on kickoff times he doesn’t like. But he’s unafraid to question a lot of things. He’s been outspoken to the media on a number of fronts.
These things happen when the attention is on you.
