If you’re over 30 and still into sports video games, you’re probably counting down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the release of College Football 25 so you can start up a new dynasty mode once again. We’re now just two months away from the first college football video game in over a decade and the hype is coming from all angles, even broadcasters like Rece Davis.
Since this will be the first time a college football game will have the names of real players thanks to name, image, and likeness, the announcers of the game have had to record a ton of new soundbytes for their voiceover work. Goodbye Texas QB #10 and USC RB #5. And the new game is pulling out all the stops by having multiple announcing teams in Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit as well as Rece Davis, David Pollack, and Jesse Palmer.
Davis took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share a couple samples of the voiceover work he’s done as well as the total time commitment, which is absolutely bonkers. Davis notes that he’s done around 30,000 takes over two years and put in 250 hours of work for the game.
Chris Fowler also gave us a tease of some commentary lines that he’s been working on as well to get ready for the release of the game. At the very least, having two announcing teams being able to provide this amount of depth is going to make the realism jump off the charts. That will be helpful when you take Tulane to the SEC and win seven straight national championships.
