In case you forgot, longtime Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville currently represents the state of Alabama in the U.S. Senate. College football fans certainly have not forgotten.
This week, Tuberville called the current court proceedings around former president Donald Trump “the most depressing thing I’ve ever seen,” leading fans to dunk on the senator with various ugly moments from his coaching career.
Tuberville coached Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and Cincinnati over a two-decade coaching career in addition to eight years with the Auburn Tigers. As a head coach, Tuberville oversaw some historically ugly losses.
So while Tuberville may be up in arms that the judge, attorneys, and media at Trump’s trial won’t call him “Mr. President” or “former president,” he may have to revisit his backlog of ugly memories on the gridiron to back up his claim about it being the most depressing thing he’s ever seen.
Fans pointed out his Auburn teams lost by 36 to Michigan in 2001, lost by two touchdowns to Georgia Tech in 2003, and narrowly beat Mississippi State by a final score of 3-2 in 2008.
After Auburn, Tuberville lost to USF by 38 while coaching the Bearcats in 2015.

The biggest lowlight of Tuberville’s coaching career was likely a 66-6 loss to Oklahoma State while at Texas Tech in 2011.

So yeah, Tuberville has seen hell.
The senator is following in line with his party to defend the likely Republican candidate for president, but he forgot just how deep college football fans’ trolling can go.
It’s hard to imagine the 69-year-old Florida resident turned Alabama senator finding quote posts on X of a story from The Hill, so he may be safe from the wrath of these fans. But nobody is forgetting 66-6 any time soon, no matter how high of an office Tuberville holds.
