It’s been another busy week in sports media. We’re here to recap the biggest news and events that took place and share some of our best work from the week that was. Without further adieu:

WFAN host Craig Carton was arrested by the FBI on fraud charges earlier this week. Carton and an associate allegedly defrauded investors out of more than $2 million in a fake tickets scam.
Craig Carton’s Ponzi scheme involves Costa Rica, gambling debts, and cargo shorts – September 6
Carton’s story got more bizarre, as it was alleged his ticket buying scandal led to the SEC filing a lawsuit against him and Joseph Meli. Joseph Wright, the man Carton allegedly conspired with, wrote an email suggesting the duo change their names and move to Costa Rica. Wright is the COO of a strip club company. Reports suggest Carton went along with the scheme to pay off gambling debts.
CBS Radio suspends Craig Carton indefinitely – September 6
Unsurprisingly, CBS Radio suspended Carton indefinitely pending further investigation.
Bucs GM Jason Licht just torched Skip Bayless on ‘Hard Knocks’ – September 6
Tampa Bay Bucs GM Jason Licht said on Hard Knocks that he would rather drive across the country with Skip Bayless in an awful car than deal with cut down day.
ESPN approved an agreement for former reporter Ed Werder to work as an NFL sideline reporter for Westwood One. Werder was part of the massive layoffs in April.
Mitch Albom and Mike Lupica are relaunching the former ESPN show “The Sports Reporters” as a podcast on Cadence13. Each episode will feature rotating guests.
