Another high-ranking ESPN editor has been placed on leave, per a new report.
According to Fox Corporation-owned Outkick.com’s Bobby Burack, senior editor Elizabeth Baugh has been placed on administrative leave. News of Baugh’s leave comes just days after Front Office Sports’ Ryan Glasspiegel reported that executive editor Cristina Daglas had been placed on leave as the result of various complaints from multiple employees to the company’s Human Resources department.
While there aren’t many details currently available regarding both Daglas and Baugh’s respective leaves, there appears to be a connection between the two. According to Burack, “sources say that Baugh had formed a friendship with Daglas, which ESPN considered an impediment to the ongoing investigation into Daglas’ conduct.”
It remains unclear whether Baugh’s friendship with Daglas was the primary reason for her being placed on leave. Reached by Awful Announcing, ESPN declined comment on the matter.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Baugh has been at ESPN for nearly a decade, initially joining ESPN as a general editor in 2015 after working for various fashion and lifestyle publications. She later worked in the network’s social media department, before holding the roles of senior editor, deputy editor and senior deputy editor — the most recent of which she was promoted to in May 2024.
As for Daglas, the ESPN executive editor has been with the company since 2014 and has overseen all of ESPN.com since 2021. She served as the network’s first female MLB deputy editor in 2016 before transitioning to a role similar to the network’s NBA coverage.
Daglas’ X bio also states that she is an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California, while Cal State Fullerton’s communications department highlighted Daglas as a new professor this past November. Her most recent ESPN-related social media post came on Jan. 17, when she re-posted a piece from ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne detailing the feud between Jimmy Butler and Pat Riley.
This story will be updated with any additional information that becomes available.
