In a rather heated exchange, SportsCenter anchor Jonathan Coachman and ESPN Nación host Jorge Sedano went at it Monday over a segment in which Coach acaused Sedano of “jacking” his material.
If you’re not aware of what’s going on, Coachman and Max Bretos do a segment on SportsCenter called “One Word.” Here’s an example:
Well apparently Nación ESPN which airs on ESPN2 on Mondays did a segment called “Una Palabra” which translate to “One Word.” So Coachman went off on Twitter:
People are just jacking our segment. At least it's being done in Spanish here. #oneword. pic.twitter.com/63UIM4H2uV
— The Coach (@Thecoachrules) March 27, 2017
Sedano who hosts the show with Bernardo Osuna and Marly Rivera replied:
You invented one word? Your pettiness translates in any language. You weren't even first at ESPN. Maybe you should talk to @PTI about that. https://t.co/d52Vnvrg9A
— Jorge Sedano (@Sedano) March 27, 2017
If you’re a regular viewer of Pardon the Interruption, you’ll know that Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser have their own segment called “What’s the Word?”
We continue with the exchange:
Pettiness? At least change the name. At least you didn't use our graphics too. So thank you for that. https://t.co/qLEqrvcGlO
— The Coach (@Thecoachrules) March 27, 2017
You first.
Also, do we really need to go over your history of being petty with your "teammates?" https://t.co/mve4FUS1BM
— Jorge Sedano (@Sedano) March 27, 2017
And Coachman then went after the amount of people on the air at Nación ESPN:
From the guy who has had 6 partners ON the air…. oh you were talking about softball. My bad. https://t.co/rrFrFHVFUG
— The Coach (@Thecoachrules) March 27, 2017
It was 3. But… ok
I ain't the one checking receipts on what my colleagues are doing all day. Keep doin you, tho https://t.co/excrksMWSJ
— Jorge Sedano (@Sedano) March 27, 2017
And then Rivera replied afterwards in hopes of trying to keep the peace:

https://twitter.com/marlyriveraespn/status/846488300747677696
It’s weird that Coachman went on Twitter to call out Sedano. Once the first salvo was fired, Sedano had to defend himself, but to see how things boomeranged and escalated, it went down a rabbit hole. And luckily, it ended as quickly as it started.
