The flow of new 30 for 30 installments from ESPN has slowed to a drip over the last year-plus. But during the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday night, ESPN teased several new installments in the series. Some of the featured athletes include Michael Vick, Lance Armstrong, Dennis Rodman, Florence Griffith Joyner, Janet Guthrie, and the Chuck Liddell-Tito Ortiz rivalry.

Unfortunately, details aside from those brief snippets in that ad are sparse, and ESPN is promising that further 30 for 30 subjects will be announced in the future. Also, all of these films aren’t coming in 2019 – some will premiere in 2020 (dates weren’t mentioned for any of the films in the ad).
Also featured in the ad was the already announced Deion’s Double Play feature, premiering on January 31st. The trailer for that installment dropped in December. We’re also getting a ten-part series on Michael Jordan and the 1990s Bulls, but not until 2020.
So, what have we learned about the future of 30 for 30? Not a whole lot! More films are planned, and they look promising….but we have no idea when we’ll see them.
