Children joining interviews or press conferences has become a growing trend in recent years, as the audience loves watching a cute kid sit with their professional athlete mother or father during interviews and press conferences.
After Wednesday’s Par 3 contest at the Masters, Jon Rahm’s one-year-old son Kepa stole the show with adorableness, while simultaneously attempting to steal ESPN’s microphone. Rahm joined ESPN’s Marty Smith for an interview, but eyes were on Kepa who was eagerly waving to the crowd.
Almost immediately after Rahm was asked a question, Kepa latched onto the mic, engaging in a game of tug of war with Smith, before the one-year-old finally leaned in and took a big bite out of the mic.

“Do you want to take this home?” Smith asked Rahm’s son, who kept a giant grin on his face as he continued to tug at the microphone. “I think that’s a yes,” Smith joked. “My job has been taken.”
The annual Par 3 event before the Masters tees off has become family day at Augusta, as significant others and children get to watch the golfers play in the contest. Wednesday’s Par-3 contest was the first time the pre-Master’s event was held since 2019.
“I think it’s a really good way to get your mind off of things for a little bit,” Rahm said of family being on hand for the Par-3 event. “Realize what’s important before we start [Thursday].”
The world No. 2 from Spain is one of the favorites to win the Masters this weekend; if he does, it would be the first Green Jacket of his career.
