It’s been a year since Kevin Clark left The Ringer for ESPN, taking a leap of faith after being a senior NFL writer for Bill Simmons’ company and a WSJ NFL columnist prior to then. At the Worldwide Leader, Clark was able to launch his This is Football show/podcast on ESPN’s YouTube channel and other platforms in partnership with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions.
Clark has featured numerous guests on his show, providing entertaining content and ample material for us at Awful Announcing to cover. His podcast includes distinctive segments where he poses questions—like those to Kirk Herbstreit—that are rarely asked elsewhere. Just this week, for example, he asked Herbstreit if there were a rep he would like to redo from his playing or media career.
Needless to say, Clark’s podcast (and show) have quickly become a favorite in the space. That’s why he announced Thursday that This is Football will make its TV debut on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
“I don’t deserve any of this (and if you’ve ever seen my work you probably agree) but I am so grateful,” he quipped.
Clark’s podcast joins the fold of others that the network has debuted on ESPN2 on weekday afternoons since late January 2024. The initial run showcased five podcast offerings: First Draft, The Elle Duncan Show, The Hoop Collective, The Lowe Post, and The Mina Kimes Show.
Now, add Clark’s This is Football to the mix.
While viewers can tune in on Tuesday at 2:30 ET, it might be tough to keep Clark’s father away from The Pat McAfee Show.
