If you haven’t been able to tell based on his wardrobe choices this week, Kyle Brandt is excited about ESPN’s acquisition of the NFL Network.
But in case there was any doubt about the intent behind his SportsCenter and Mickey Mouse t-shirts, the NFL Network star addressed the deal’s official announcement during Wednesday morning’s episode of Good Morning Football.
“We have excitement and we have some unknown. There’s not going to be immediate radical changes to this show or to anything with NFL Media. But changes will come and they will evolve,” Brandt said. “The unknown, my friends, is exactly what those changes are going to be. But the excitement what they could be. I personally have nearly a decade with NFL Network, but I have four decades with ESPN. I grew up adoring Boomer and TJ on Primetime. I stayed up late watching [Dan] Patrick and [Keith] Olberman on SportsCenter and reading [Bill] Simmons on dot com.
“In my 20s, I raced home to catch the Rome Is Burning, Around The Horn, PTI block. Growing up a sports fan, the most important teams to me were the Bears, the Bulls, and the Worldwide Leader. Those were my teams. And now the idea of potentially getting to be teammates — hell yes, that’s exciting for me, for all of Good Morning Football to be teammates with pros that I’ve watched for years.”

Brandt specifically shouted out the likes of Scott Van Pelt, Hannah Storm and Tim Kurkjian. He also alluded to a potential reunion with one of ESPN’s newest rising stars, former GMFB co-host Peter Schrager.
“It is exciting for us. Not to mention this wild off the wall notion that someday, Peter Schrager could rise from the ashes and do a ‘Whiteboard Wednesday’ segment. That is intoxicating to me, my friends, and I hope it is to you too. All of this,” he said. “It’s going to be new. It’s going to be more, it’s going to be better, and it’s all going to be under our Good Morning Football mantra that football should be fun. And now it’s just going to be fun with some new friends, and that’s awesome.”
While the deal has to even be officially approved (and likely won’t be until the end of 2026), all indications are that Good Morning Football will remain the NFL Network’s flagship show while under the ESPN banner. And based on Brandt’s comments and enthusiasm alone, the excitement of the possibilities seem to outweigh the uncertainty of the unknown.
