Stephen Curry will produce a Sony Pictures animated film that will be released during the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.
On Thursday, the studio announced that the Golden State Warriors star would produce an original animated sports comedy, GOAT, through his Unanimous Media production company, which he co-founded with Erick Peyton in 2018.
Their recent projects include the documentary Stephen Curry: Underrated, chronicling his rise to stardom during Davidson College’s historic March Madness run in 2008. They’re also behind the animated remake of the classic sitcom Good Times, which is now streaming on Netflix.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to work with Sony Pictures Animation on GOAT, a special project we hope will resonate with families and sports fans alike,” said Erick Peyton & Stephen Curry of Unanimous Media. “With GOAT, we look forward to uplifting audiences with diverse characters and heartwarming storylines that will have you rooting for the underdog.”
Curry and Peyton won’t be going in alone on GOAT.
Sony Pictures has assembled a powerhouse production team to bring the film to life.
Curry and Peyton are joined as producers by industry veterans Michelle Raimo Kouyate (The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story, Silver Linings Playbook), Adam Rosenberg (Creed 3) and Rodney Rothman, the co-director of the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Emmy-nominated Tyree Dillihay (Bob’s Burgers) and co-director Adam Rosette (Orion and the Dark) will take the helm on the director’s side. Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley, known for their work on the adult animated comedy Fairfax, will handle scriptwriting duties.
Rounding out the team, David Schulenburg (The Spider Within: a Spider-Verse Story, Spider-Ham: Caught in a Ham) serves as co-producer. At the same time, Rick Mischel (Open Season: Call of Nature) and Fonda Snyder (Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum) will lend their expertise as executive producers.
“As a lifelong fan of animation and sports, GOAT is my dream project. We’ve got a modern take on a classic story in a rich new world where amazing happens. I couldn’t ask for a better team of collaborators to help bring this experiential event to life,” said Tyree Dillihay.
The film premieres Feb. 13, 2026.
