Saturday’s matchup between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Troy Trojans featured multiple graphic errors on the FS1 broadcast that were incredibly obvious to viewers watching at home.
Troy has nearly an entirely new coaching staff this season after the departure of former head coach Jon Sumrall to Tulane. Along with Sumrall, defensive coordinator Greg Gasparato, offensive coordinator Joe Craddock, and former co-defensive coordinator Tayler Polk all opted to leave Troy in favor of joining Sumrall at Tulane.
FS1’s broadcast of Saturday’s game attempted to show the drastic changes on the Troy coaching staff this season by displaying a graphic with details of Sumrall’s departure. The only problem was that the person pictured in the graphic was not Jon Sumrall.
All it takes is one simple Google search to see that the person pictured in the graphic very clearly isn’t Sumrall… So clearly, someone didn’t do their due diligence by looking over these graphics before the start of the game.
This also wasn’t the only mistake from the FS1 broadcast team. After Iowa scored its first touchdown of the game, a graphic was shown just before a commercial break that had the Iowa Hawkeyes listed as the Iowa State Hawkeyes.
Again, this mistake is one that you would imagine would be seen before the broadcast. But clearly, the attention to detail for this broadcast as far as the graphics go certainly left a bit to be desired, which fans pointed out on social media.
