LIV Golf’s season-opening event in Riyadh will indeed be under the lights.
The Riyadh tournament, which will be the first LIV tournament played following the golf league’s television deal with Fox, is now listed on TV guides. Play will begin on Thursday, Feb. 6 and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 8. The first two rounds will air on FS2 while the final round will be on FS1. Coverage starts at 10 a.m. ET on all three days, which is 6 p.m. in Riyadh.
While LIV has attracted several of the sport’s biggest names, one area where the Saudi-backed league has struggled to gain traction is with the television viewing audience. To that end, in an attempt to separate itself from its competition, it’s expected that this will be the first of many LIV tournaments played under the lights. That certainly makes it unique in the golf world.
Additionally, if it’s a success for LIV Golf, it could open the door for future tournaments — outside of just LIV Golf — to be played at night.
