NFL on Fox analyst and 104.3 The Fan (Denver) radio personality Mark Schlereth tweeted Thursday about successfully undergoing heart surgery. And he had a lot of good things to say about the care he got from his medical team at Denver’s Porter Hospital:
Schlereth, 56, has had quite the career as both a player and media figure. He played 12 seasons as a guard in the NFL with Washington and Denver before retiring in 2001, then quickly transitioned into both Denver radio (originally on 760 AM The Zone) and a part-time analyst job with ESPN. He then went full-time with ESPN from 2004-17, then joined Fox that year. At Fox, he’s served as both a game analyst and a FS1 studio personality, and opted to stay there in 2019 despite an offer to return to ESPN. He’s taken acting roles outside of sports as well, including on soap opera Guiding Light and in the 2012 Red Dawn remake. And he’s quite popular amongst many colleagues past and present and other media members, as some of the responses to that tweet indicate:
It’s good to hear that Schlereth’s surgery went well. Here’s wishing him all the best in his recovery.
