There’s been rampant speculation about Aaron Rodgers’ plans for the 2025 season, but Keyshawn Johnson is convinced they won’t include the New York Jets.
In fact, Johnson made a ridiculous promise Thursday about what he’ll do if Rodgers returns to the Jets this fall.
The cast of FS1’s Speak discussed new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn’s prospects with the team. The former Jets star inherits a squad that went 5-12 this season, with many question marks. The biggest question is Rodgers, who is coming off the worst statistical season of his career and will turn 42 next season. The four-time MVP quarterback has said he’s unsure if he’ll return to play another NFL season, and if he does, it’s uncertain whether it will be with the Jets.
Johnson said he thinks Glenn is a perfect fit for the Jets, but he will not want to work with Rodgers.
“The Jets situation is phenomenal. They’ve got players,” Johnson said. “What he can do is go into New York, set a different culture than what is there. I can guarantee 100,000 percent that coach is going to change overnight, because he’s not the typical quiet, not going to say anything … He’s going to challenge his players, just like he did as a defender.
“He will not start off his career — now I said this first, nobody else is saying this — he will not start off his career with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback in September.”
Johnson is so sure Glenn will not work with Rodgers, he made an outlandish guarantee.
“If he does, then I’m walking from Calabasas at 4 a.m. in the morning, to the studio, with nothing on but boxers,” Johnson said. “So I’m saying this with a lot of confidence. … I’m just letting you know, he ain’t going to start his career with that mess. It’s not going to happen. He’s not going to allow somebody to tell him what he’s doing as a coach.
“I don’t know who they’re going into the season with but they ain’t going into the season with No. 8.”

For those who are wondering, Calabasas is about a 28-mile walk from the Fox Network Center in Century City, Los Angeles. Google Maps suggests it’s about a 10-hour walk, although Johnson’s in good shape, he could probably make better time. Then again, all the people yelling and pointing at a former NFL star walking through LA in his boxers would be a distraction for Johnson.
We also now have two competing scenarios about Glenn and Rodgers working/not working together. Michael Kay, admittedly not anyone’s first choice for NFL breaking news, reported Wednesday that Glenn has “made it known that he would like to keep Aaron Rodgers.”
