Hulu dropped a brief trailer Saturday for its upcoming Chad Powers series that didn’t reveal much more than fans already knew about the show.
The 14-second teaser shows actor Glen Powell as the the title character. The series, first announced in February, was inspired by Eli Manning’s 15-minute skit in 2022 where he went “undercover” at a walk-on tryout for Penn State, dressing up in a wig and a fake mustache under the name “Chad Powers.” That aired on the ESPN+ show Eli’s Places.
Powell portrays a quarterback with a shady past named Russ Holliday, who disguises himself and walks on with a college football team in the South.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much — it’s hard to show much of anything in only 14 seconds — but it does show Powell’s character saying, “I got something coming up. Something kind of big.”
Powell is the show’s co-creator and served as executive producer along with Michael Waldron, Eli and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown and ESPN.
Steve Zahn will play the role of Jake Hudson, the college football coach who welcomes Powers. The cast also includes Perry Mattfeld, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Quentin Plair.
Fans have already been treated to a sneak preview of a scene from the series. When Mississippi State hosted Georgia in October, the series filmed a scene at halftime showing a fictional football team running out of the tunnel. Fans were instructed to loudly boo the players.
The series release is set for Fall 2025 and will include 10 episodes.
