Don Orsillo will continue to be an integral part of San Diego Padres broadcasts for a while going forward.
Orsillo, who’s been the team’s primary play-by-play broadcaster on television since 2016, shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday that he and the team had agreed to a long-term deal.
“I am pleased to announce a longterm extension signing with the @Padres,” Orsillo posted. “I would like to thank the Padres fans and the SD community for being so very kind. I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Erik Greupner who made all of this possible and for his leadership.”

That is likely good news for most Padres fans. San Diego’s television announce team is generally one of the better-regarded in Major League Baseball. Awful Announcing readers voted the Padres as having the third-best announce crew in Major League Baseball in 2023 and 2024, trailing only the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets in both years.
Orsillo began calling Padres games in 2016.
