Few people, if any, have ever covered the NBA as well as Adrian Wojnarowski. Going forward, he’ll now be officially recognized for that as a Curt Gowdy Award winner.
Wojnarowski was announced as one of four recipients of the 2025 Curt Gowdy Awards, presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Wojnarowski won the Curt Gowdy Insight Award.
Wojnarowski worked for newspapers such as the Fresno Bee in California and The Record in New Jersey before beginning to work at Yahoo Sports in 2007, eventually becoming one of the top NBA insiders. Following the 2016-17 NBA season, Wojnarowski left Yahoo Sports to become ESPN’s top NBA insider. He remained at ESPN until September 2024 when, weeks before the start of the 2024-25 NBA season, Wojnarowski announced his retirement from ESPN and NBA news in general. After retiring from reporting, Wojnarowski returned to his alma mater, St. Bonaventure, to become general manager of the school’s men’s basketball team.
The other three Gowdy Award winners were longtime Bay Area reporter Michelle Smith (Print Media Award), former NBA player and CBS commentator Clark Kellogg (Electronic Award) and Detroit Pistons announcer George Blaha (Electronic Award).
Jeff Twiss, the VP of Media Services and Alumni Relations for the Boston Celtics, also received the John Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award.
