Twitter has handed down plenty of odd account suspensions over the years to everyone from Deadspin and SB Nation to Jim Weber to Rob Friedman (@PitchingNinja), but Saturday saw one of the strangest yet. The University of Georgia Bulldogs’ football team’s official, verified account @FootballUGA was suspended early Saturday morning, the day of their spring game, and was still showing that message Saturday night at 11 p.m. Eastern. And that led to plenty of jokes about the many, many past incidents of Georgia football players getting in offseason trouble:

This isn’t the first time Georgia’s football Twitter account has been suspended, as they (along with Missouri, Texas and South Florida) drew a suspension around February’s national signing day this year, possibly over a Digital Millennium Copyright Takedown request over music featured in their tweets. And that may be the issue again this time. But it’s pretty funny to see that happen to them again on one of the biggest offseason days for the program, especially given Georgia’s history of offseason disciplinary issues. At least it wasn’t a player getting into trouble this time?
