The second day of the NCAA Tournament absolutely lived up to the hype of previous years. We saw arguably the greatest upset in the tournament’s history when Middle Tennessee State knocked off Michigan State, and Stephen F. Austin knocked off West Virginia.
But that wasn’t all, it wasn’t even close. The second to last game of the night, Northern Iowa vs. Texas provided us with a halfcourt buzzer-beater that went in the Panthers’ favor.
As the shot banked off the glass and through the net, the bench couldn’t storm the court fast enough, as the Missouri Valley Conference champions knocked off the sixth seeded Longhorns.
This shot from the crowd gives you an even more interesting, first-hand perspective:

The Panthers will move on to face the third seeded Texas A&M Aggies, and if their game against Texas is any indication, that matchup should certainly be one that you don’t want to miss.
UPDATE: Here’s the awesome radio call of the finish from Northern Iowa play-by-play man Gary Rima.
