The 2024 NCAA Baseball Tournament is heading into the homestretch and the North Carolina Tar Heels punched their ticket to the 2024 College World Series over the weekend thanks to a walk-off victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Afterward, UNC poured some salt in the wounds with an incredible troll during their post-game press conference.
After they advanced to their first-ever Super Regionals appearance, the West Virginia Mountaineers hoped to shock the world again in the Chapel Hill Super Regional. But it was simply not to be. Then, in Game 2, the Tar Heels made quick work of the Mountaineers, defeating them 2-0 in the Best of 3 series to send them back home to Morgantown.
UNC opted to poke fun at their opponents after sending them packing. While some of their players and head coach spoke with the media, the rest of the Tar Heels interrupted the presser by singing “Country Roads,” the popular John Denver song often heard at WVU athletics events, in the nearby locker room.
On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the biggest troll of all time, we’d rank this a solid 7.5. We’d grade it higher if they decided to interrupt WVU’s press conference with the song blaring in the background.
