During Thursday night’s Week 2 game between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins, announcers Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit spoke about Miami receiver Tyreek Hill and the videos that have circulated of his detainment by police hours before his team’s Week 1 game on Sunday.
As Thursday’s game returned from a commercial break early in the second quarter, sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung detailed the situation. Announcers Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit then continued the conversation. They not only addressed what happened but also spoke about Hill’s performance in the game, which included an 80-yard touchdown.
“That was an amazing situation on Sunday,” Michaels said. “Pulled out of the car, is able to play and not only plays but, I don’t whether adrenaline kicks in or what. I mean, he had a great day. And an 80-yard touchdown reception.”
“I’ve never seen anything like that,” Herbstreit added.
“No,” Michaels responded. “It was, that video is — unbelievable in a way.”
Hill also spoke about the incident in an interview with Prime Video’s Taylor Rooks that aired before the game. In the interview, he acknowledged mistakes that he made while reiterating that the situation was also poorly handled by the officers.
