As Good Morning Football continues its long and strange farewell/hiatus/whatever we’re calling it, the NFL Network program is making another brief return to airwaves.
On Monday, NFL Media announced that GMFB will return for a two-hour schedule release special at 7 a.m. ET on Wednesday. The program will feature GMFB cast members Kyle Brandt, Peter Schrager and Jason McCourty, as well as NFL Network reporter Sherree Burruss and will include a full unveiling of the league’s slate of international games for the 2024 season.
Good Morning Football‘s return comes more than two months after the show announced that it would be going on hiatus as it shifts production from New York City to Los Angeles. While host Jamie Erdahl — who remains on maternity leave — has announced that she will remain with the show moving forward, Brandt, Schrager and McCourty’s statuses remain unclear, as do many of the details regarding how moving to the West Coast will affect a show that aired at 9 a.m. ET.
After signing off from New York City at the end of March, GMFB was expected to remain on hiatus until the start of training camps in late-July, but made a surprise return to cover the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft last month. In this instance, NFL Media is at least actively promoting the return of its flagship program, which makes sense considering that it will be unveiling a not-insignificant portion of the NFL’s 2024 schedule.
It’s also worth noting that the three Good Morning Football hosts who have yet to publicly commit to a future with the program will be on Wednesday’s program, which, if nothing else, would seem to keep the door open on them remaining with the show. All things considered, this is another chapter in what’s already been a very strange situation, although perhaps Wednesday’s broadcast will help bring some clarity to the show’s uncertain future.
