What in the world is going on with the Jacksonville Jaguars? NFL insiders are getting conflicting information.
Jacksonville’s decision to fire general manager Trent Baalke is said to have re-opened the door for Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen to become the head coach. On Thursday, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Coen was interviewing with the Jaguars for a second time.
Later, though, responding to that report, Schultz said former New York Jets coach Robert Saleh “just landed in Jacksonville for what was supposed to be an interview tomorrow with the #Jaguars.”
That post has since been deleted — for good reason.
The confusion was only amplified later when both Michael Silver and Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that Saleh had not flown to Jacksonville.
Russini reported that “Jags’ ownership called him directly and explained they will let him pick the general manager and would pay him ‘Ben Johnson’ level money along with multiple years, per sources.”
Silver, meanwhile, reported that he expected “the 49ers to rehire Robert Saleh as their defensive coordinator soon.”
So, after an extended period of confusion and conflicting reports, we might finally have some clarity.
