Jon Gruden is loud, knows his football, and is most likely weaker than his son. How did I come to that conclusion? Well Gruden’s son is now a world champion powerlifter, that’s how.
Jon “Deuce” Gruden II is the 23-year-old son of the former NFL coach and current ESPN analyst. Deuce competed this week in the International Powerlifting Federation World Classic Powerlifting Championships in Minsk, Belarus, and did pretty well.

Deuce talked to the Los Angeles Times about his strength improvement:
“There were weights I couldn’t come close to budging when I was in college,” the younger Jon Gruden told the LA Times last week, “and now I’m ripping off five sets at a time. It’s one of those things where you get to see how far you’ve come.”
The 5’5″, 180-pounder coached wide receivers and running backs in college, and is now an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Washington Redskins.
When the younger Jon competes, he goes through three “lifts”: squat, bench press, and dead lift. How much does he lift each time? A lot. Squats? 622. Bench press? 440. Dead lift? 666.
While the younger Jon is extremely strong, it’s not like his father never lifted weights.
