Several former New England Patriots have voiced dissatisfaction with the popular The Dynasty docuseries on Apple TV+. The list of displeasures grew by one recently, but this time, it came from an active player.
Kendrick Bourne, a member of the Patriots since 2021, recently shared his feelings on the docuseries.
“I think it’s awful too, honestly,” Bourne told Boston.com recently. “It’s just a lot.”
One piece of criticism from the Patriots’ side in the docuseries was its portrayal of head coach Bill Belichick. Bourne chimed in to agree with that sentiment that he felt the docuseries painted Belichick in a negative light.
“It made Bill look bad, and I love Bill. I love everything he stood for. It was just kind of crazy how it made him look, and it seemed like a lot of misunderstanding and confusion was going on,” he added. “I enjoyed seeing the history and learning about the history. It’s always dope to learn about history. But, they tried to swing it one way or the other, and it didn’t have to be like that.”
Bourne said he was “on the fence” about his feelings on Dynasty due to the history being unpacked, but he “hates” how it made his former coach look. “I think every team goes through that, but when you’re a dynasty, and you win a lot, people still try to discredit it.”
Bourne’s comments are interesting, if nothing else, because he came around the team at the very back end of the run. Unlike Stephon Gilmore, Julian Edelman, Devin McCourty, and Matthew Slater, among others, they were all there for the dynasty, and Bourne wasn’t. That doesn’t necessarily invalidate him, but you must understand his perspective when examining his comments. He came in late in the game, which may make your mileage vary.
