A lot has changed in the last two years for the New York Giants. In talking about New York’s Week 2 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday, Mike Francesa noted what he sees as a big change — the demeanor of head coach Brian Daboll.
Daboll was a rookie head coach for the Giants in 2022. After two games that season, he was 2-0. And while New York would cool off some through the remainder of the season, Daboll still led the Giants to a 9-6-1 record, a playoff appearance appearance and a first-round win en route to being named the NFL Coach of the Year. But 2023 was a lot different, with New York going 6-11. And after Sunday’s loss Francesa noticed Daboll’s frustration and brought it up during the Mike Francesa Podcast.
“I’ll tell you something,” Francesa said. “When I see Daboll now, I don’t see the coach who had a little glint in his eye and a little bit of a swagger in his first year. I see a guy who looks like he wants to jump off a bridge. And I see a guy who just wants to give you short answers.”

Francesa continued.
“You can tell that he’s up to here with all of it. And he knows he’s looking down the barrels at a long season. That’s what you take.”
