The New York Jets came into the 2024 NFL season as a trendy pick to play in the Super Bowl.
Eight games into the season, they appear to be heading to the bottom of the league rankings.
Mega-Jets fan Mike Greenberg has worn his green and white heart on his sleeve over the years and that was no different on Sunday when the Jets completed their latest brutal loss. Despite being a touchdown favorite, New York lost in the closing seconds to the lowly New England Patriots. The win snapped the Patriots’ six-game losing streak and stretched the Jets’ losing streak to five games.
Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich made some incredibly questionable decisions throughout the game and the “inexcusable” loss left many New York media members in disbelief.
As for Greenberg, he’s had his heart ripped out by Gang Green plenty of times in his life. That’s part and parcel of being a Jets fan. But this one in particular seemed to strike a nerve with the ESPN host.
“In a season filled with embarrassing performances, that was the worst,” Greenberg wrote on X after the loss. “In a history filled with horrible seasons, this may be the worst. The Jets of 2024 are one of the truly colossal failures in recent sports memory. And it only gets worse from here.”
Before that, Greeny also noted that the franchise should “fire everybody,” referred to the coaching staff as “incompetent,” and added they’re “embarrassing to watch.”
It should make for a very entertaining Monday morning on ESPN, where you know the Jets are going to be a main topic of discussion, whether you care or not.
