After announcing the launch of a new digital-only NFL pregame show on Tuesday dubbed The NFL Today+, it appears that CBS is canceling its other long-running linear pregame presentation. Multiple sources tell Awful Announcing that That Other Pregame Show will not return for the 2025-26 season.
The program, which debuted on CBS Sports Network in 2013, has long held a spot as the earliest NFL pregame show on television, frequently starting at 8 a.m. ET and running until noon ET, when the flagship The NFL Today started on CBS.
Adam Schein, who today was announced as the in-game highlights announcer for the NFL on CBS, was the longtime host. Amy Trask, Brock Vereen, London Fletcher, and Kyle Long served as analysts for the show last season. The NFL Today crew would frequently drop in for segments on TOPS as well.
The NFL Today+ will serve as the spiritual successor to TOPS, with some of the resources and talent previously dedicated to the CBS Sports Network pregame show likely being allocated for the new digital show. However, gone are the days of the four-hour marathon pregame show; The NFL Today+ is set to begin at 10 a.m. ET every Sunday morning.
In Tuesday’s announcement regarding its pregame plans, CBS did not mention any names that will be associated with the new digital effort, though the network does mention The NFL Today+ will “incorporate content creators and influencers throughout the season.” The new pregame program will also feature live look-ins from stadiums around the league along with on-site reports and interviews, both of which were staples of the old show.
The NFL pregame shift from cable to digital continues a major week for Paramount+ in the sports department after the company signed a $7.7 billion deal with UFC to become the new home of the mixed martial arts giant.
