This ‘Star Wars’-themed NFL Network highlight is out of control

As you may have heard (if you live within 100 miles of an internet connection), “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” hit theaters Friday. “Star Wars” fans are psyched, the reviews seems pretty good, and references are everywhere.

So it figured that when NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt asked for a theme around which to build a highlight package of Thursday Night Football, to be read Friday on Good Morning Football, a fan suggested “Star Wars.”

The resulting highlight is a real work of art. Behold:

It would have been easy for this concept to be totally tacky, but Brandt’s enthusiasm and obvious knowledge of “Star Wars” makes it work.

We got off to a rough start with a totally forced “I am your father,” but things improved greatly from there.

You’ve got to love Brandt describing a fake punt with Admiral Ackbar’s “It’s a trap.” The Seahawks recognized the trap and sussed it out better than the Rebellion did in “Return of the Jedi.”

Also, it was just too convenient that Luke Wilson caught a touchdown, allowing Brandt to unleash a barrage of Luke Skywalker references.

But the best part of all? Brandt alluding to the time Luke and Leia made out, then never mentioned it again, even in light of the revelation that they were siblings. Sure, that had nothing to do with the Rams and Seahawks, but we should all talk about it more often.
