Vice President Kamala Harris did a CNN town hall on Wednesday night as the 2024 Presidential Election hits the home stretch. And with the town hall happening in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, it was only a matter of time before the Philadelphia Eagles got a shoutout.
CNN host and moderator Anderson Cooper turned to Temple student Elkan Pleat, who he said was a registered Democrat and undecided voter who is leaning towards voting for Harris. But before asking Harris about the proudest moment of her political career thus far, he dropped a “Go Birds” as a way to remind everyone watching around the nation and around the world that while Pennsylvania may be the tipping point state in the most significant election of our lifetimes, the Philadelphia Eagles are still the most important thing.
Pleat said he was originally from Harris’ home state of California from Danville, which is just to the east of the Bay Area. Surely there’s got to be a backstory there about how he got to Temple and became enough of a diehard Eagles fan to give them a nod before asking a question to the Vice President of the United States who could just be a couple weeks away from becoming our first female president? Regardless, hopefully Pleat heard enough to make up his mind about voting one way or another.
It wasn’t even the only viral sports moment from last night’s CNN town hall. There was also someone that came decked out in Philadelphia Union gear to remind us that this was a Democratic town hall and not one for Donald Trump. If there was an F1 question about Kamala Harris’ Lewis Hamilton fandom, then we really could have had it all.
