Sophia Jurksztowicz announced Tuesday she is taking a temporary leave of absence from her role as Boston Bruins studio host on NESN.
Jurksztowicz, who has been with NESN since 2019 since coming over from Sportsnet, had not appeared on any of the network’s preseason broadcasts, leading to speculation about her role with the company.
On Tuesday, she put out a statement on her social media accounts explaining that her role with the network had not changed but she would be stepping away temporarily.

“This summer I signed a contract extension with NESN and I couldn’t be happier to continue my journey as your Bruins host,” she wrote. “But due to personal reasons, I’m going to have to delay my season start with NESN and the team. I don’t want anyone to worry, I WILL be okay, but right now I just need to take time away from work.
“I’ve received nothing but support from NESN with my circumstances and I seriously could not be more grateful to be working at NESN or more thankful for all the love from my teammates.
“It’s only preseason, but I miss being at the rink already and I’m going to miss interacting with all of you too. You’re the best fans in the world and you’re my home away from home. I can’t wait to be back. In the meantime, I’m always cheering.”
In a statement, an NESN spokesperson said (via Boston.com), “The NESN team wishes Sophia well during this time and looks forward to having her back on Bruins’ broadcasts when she is ready to return. In the interim, we ask that everyone respect Sophia’s privacy.”
Adam Pellerin will host NESN Bruins coverage during her absence.
