One of the most important steps in getting a show reunion or reboot to happen is having the cast buy-in. And Jerry Ferrara says he’s already there with Entourage.
Ferrara joined the latest episode of the Awful Announcing Podcast to discuss his podcast with Matt Leinart, New York Knicks fandom, WFAN interests and acting career, among other topics. During the episode, Ferrara also spoke about his time on Entourage and the possibility of giving the show a reboot in the future.
“Every time everybody talks reboot and getting the band back together again, for most of the last five years I’ve always been like, ‘No, that’s impossible,’” Ferrara said. “Number one, we did everything that we can do with these guys, so there’s nothing left to do. And number two, what does that even look like right now? So much has changed and I just don’t know where these guys fit. We’re all a lot older, we’re not still living together. I don’t think it could still be the same vibe. About a year ago, we all got together and had a little bit of a reunion of our own…I did start to think, ‘Alright, here’s and idea, this would be funny.’”
Ferrara and Kevin Dillon also recently reunited to shoot a commercial for F1 and Cash App. And even though they were playing themselves in the spot, Ferrara said seeing Dillon stare into the camera saying, say, ‘We got to get to Vegas, bro,’ was all he needed to know Drama still had his fastball.
“I now can officially say, ‘I see it.’ I know what it would be,” Ferrara said. “Now, obviously Doug [Ellin] would have to really figure out what it is, but I have ideas and I could totally see it being a thing. Do I think it would ever happen? Probably not. But for the first time ever, creatively, I see it now. I see what these guys are doing.”
Entourage ended in 2011, with the cast reuniting for a movie that was released in 2015. Ferrara admitted the movie did okay, but not great, and certainly not well enough to warrant a sequel. But that doesn’t appear to deter him from having interest in reuniting for a reboot or new season of the show.
