While the era didn’t end well, the current incarnation of the New York Jets has a lot of fans wistful for the days of Rex Ryan.
The former Jets head coach took the franchise to back-to-back AFC Championship games and they haven’t even been back to the playoffs in the 13 seasons since.
While Aaron Rodgers has helped keep the Jets in the New York tabloid headlines all season long, Ryan had a few controversies of his own while in town. None more memorable than the 2010 revelation that he and his wife had made a foot fetish video that appeared on the internet.
While he and the Jets initially tried to deflect attention from the viral video, he would eventually become more playful about it and his interest in feet. These days, it’s not uncommon to see one of his ESPN colleagues or other NFL folks make a foot joke at Rex’s expense while he laughs along with them.
Ryan appeared on The Pivot this week where the topic of his foot fetish was broached. The ESPN NFL analyst adamantly defended his appreciation of his wife’s toes.
“I love my wife’s feet,” said Ryan. “I don’t know what it is. But if a chick’s got jacked-up feet, I’m out. I don’t care how gorgeous. I’m out. I don’t know what the hell it is. Some people are boob guys, leg guys. Of course, I notice a pretty gorgeous face, whatever… but I’m checking the feet out.”
Ryan added that he thought his wife was “gonna frickin’ kill me” when the video went viral but was shocked to find out that many of his Jets players admitted they had a similar fetish.
“Now I have fun with it and it’s like, yeah, that’s me. That’s who I am. I own that shit,” he added. “And if a chick’s got great feet, I’m looking.”
