The 2024 United States presidential election will finally take place in a few days, freeing us from the stupidity that has ruled our lives for the better part of the last two years (or, perhaps, ushering in a new era of stupidity).
In the waning days of the election battle between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, many celebrities and professional athletes who hadn’t already done so have offered their endorsements.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James endorsed Harris last week. When asked about it by reporters after a game on Friday, he shared his thoughts on the decision.
“I see where our country should be, I feel like that endorsement is only right,” he said.
That caught the attention of former ESPN host Jemele Hill, who noted it was a stark difference to the way a similar situation had been handled by San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa.
Hill, who recently announced a new show for TNT Sports, was referring to Bosa’s decision to crash a postgame interview while wearing a “MAGA” hat in support of Trump. When asked about it after the game, Bosa refused to share any further thoughts, saying “I’m not gonna talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time.”
Bosa’s disinterest in offering insight into his implied endorsement hasn’t set well with some in the media, who feel as though it showed a lack of commitment and seemed to represent Trump’s mantra for attention and chaos over meaningful discourse.
The NFL is currently reviewing the incident, which was a violation of league policy around political statements.
