DJ Moore gives noncommittal answer on whether Matt Eberflus has lost Bears locker room: ‘I wanna say no’

After back-to-back losses for the Chicago Bears, discourse has begun about head coach Matt Eberflus potentially losing favor within the locker room. And star wide receiver DJ Moore didn’t exactly sound all that convicted about trying to disprove this sentiment during a radio interview with 670 The Score on Monday.

It’s been a frustrating couple of weeks for Bears’ fans and players alike, losing on a last-second Hail Mary to the Washington Commanders in Week 8. Then, the Bears came out and appeared rather lifeless in their Week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The frustrations seem to be continuing to grow heading into their Week 10 game against the New England Patriots. Prior to that game, DJ Moore was asked during an appearance on the Bernstein and Holmes Show whether he believed Eberflus has “lost this football team”. He largely gave an answer that wasn’t overly enthusiastic about his head coach.

“I want to say no,” said Moore. “The message yesterday was that we know we’re 4-4 now. It’s just like being 0-0. But you’ve just got to go out there and start stacking wins like we did. And that’s the best thing you can do is win and let the chips fall how they fall after they do so.”

Maybe Moore just doesn’t want to speak for his teammates and how they feel about Eberflus. But “I wanna say no” isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement for Eberflus and his job security in Chicago.

This also comes just one week after Moore publically criticized the team’s play calling in their loss to the Commanders. And that is far from the only controversy around this team’s decision-making.

Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams seemingly limped off the field at the end of Sunday’s matchup with the Cardinals, which raised questions about why he was in the game in the first place considering they were trailing by 20 points with only seconds remaining.

Regardless, like Moore said, winning is the cure if the Bears want to calm these discussions about Eberflus and his relationship with players on the team. But until they get back to their winning ways, there may continue to be questions about Eberflus and his future in Chicago.
