Amazon’s All or Nothing documentary series has taken on a distinctly global feel. After starting as a Hard Knocks-esque look at an NFL team every season (the latest being the ongoing Dallas Cowboys series), the show pivoted to feature Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines, then left the United States entirely for a look at the New Zealand All Blacks.
In addition to international rugby, Amazon has their foray into the global game on the way as well, with All or Nothing: Manchester City, through their Prime Video UK division. The trailer dropped today, and it looks, well, pretty great:
From Amazon’s initial release on the show:
The Amazon Prime Original series will offer fans a glimpse into the historic Club, its legendary coach, Pep Guardiola and the weekly stories that unfold within the lives of the players currently sitting on top of the English Premier League table. Guardiola was one of the best players and coaches of his generation, having won three Champions League titles during his time at FC Barcelona. He joined Manchester City in 2016, coaching stars such as Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus and Kevin de Bruyne.
This new series will take viewers on a behind the scenes journey through the whole of Manchester City’s 2017/18 season from the world-leading training facilities at the City Football Academy, to interviews with the manager and executive meetings.
It certainly doesn’t hurt that Manchester City ended up destroying their Premier League competition this season in a dominant run to a league title. But more than that, it’ll be fascinating to take a break from American football documentaries, the rhythms of which having become familiar over the years. Top-level European soccer is an entirely different world, and not one we’ve gotten to see much of, Being: Liverpool notwithstanding.
Plus, listening to Pep Guardiola is mesmerizing. The show isn’t set to come out until later this summer at the earliest, though post-World Cup/pre-EPL season would be a solid window for it.
