PlayStation Vue to allow viewers to watch three channels at once just in time for March Madness

As one of several live streaming services, Sony’s PlayStation Vue is hoping to stand out from the pack. The field is getting quite crowded with newcomer YouTube TV joining the fray last week. And PlayStation Vue’s latest innovation comes just in time for the NCAA Tournament which will begin next Tuesday,

On PlayStation 4 consoles, PlayStation Vue subscribers can put three channels up on the screen at the same time. And Sony is promoting this feature that can be utilized for the NCAA Tournament. This would mark the first time a live streaming service is offering this feature.

“With March Madness starting next week, this will be a great way to catch several live games at once from TNT, TBS, TruTV and CBS.*”

Sony put the asterisk next to CBS noting that not all live streaming services (i.e., Sling TV and DirecTV Now) do not have access to the network. And while YouTube has CBS, it doesn’t carry the Turner networks.

Dish Network’s Hopper and some other high-end cable DVR’s do offer multichannel on-screen features, but it hadn’t been on the live streaming providers. It not only allows viewers to keep track of three games at once, but also three different programs.

Sony is trying to note its differences with Sling TV, DirecTV Now and YouTube TV and until one of its competitors matches the innovation, they’ll lag behind PlayStation Vue.

And this will be a new way for fans to keep track of the NCAA Tournament on PlayStation.
