“I’m not gonna eat another meal until the Lakers win a game.”
Those fateful words from Charles Barkley were spoken on Inside the NBA Thursday night. The Lakers are currently 0-5 and have been playing awful, awful basketball so far this season. Through 5 games, they’re allowing an average of 116.8 PPG, last in the NBA by over 7 points.
The Lakers have a winnable game coming up at home against the Hornets on Sunday, but even if they win that game that’s three days without food for Chuck. If they fail to win that game, the Lakers are on the road at Memphis and New Orleans before home games versus the Spurs and Warriors. It could be almost two weeks before the round mound of rebound eats again and dissolves before our eyes. In the meantime, Barkley plans on the uber-healthy “water and vodka” diet.
This plan may be more effective than Weight Watchers ever was for Sir Charles. Or it could kill him. One of the two.
