After several years of their scorebug being a banner on the bottom of the screen, ESPN has switched it up for bowl season. With the advent of bowl season and the New Orleans Bowl, ESPN debuted this new look for college football. The score bug is now a box in the bottom right corner of the screen.
It looks much sleeker and cleaner, but my inner curmudgeon is telling me I’m not in love with the change just like when Twitter or Facebook updates their graphic. A long time ago, scorebugs would be in the top corner of the screen behind the offense. I’m a little uneasy that it’s now over the defense. We’ll see how fans react and whether or not ESPN’s other football properties will follow suit.
