ESPN’s NBA player rankings sure are stirring up a bit of controversy in the Association… which I suppose is exactly what they’re designed to do. This is specifically true in Hollywood, where another Lakers player has voiced dissatisfaction with his rating. But this isn’t just any player.
It’s Kobe Bryant.
Coming off some serious injuries that have seriously hampered the tail-end of his career, Bryant unloaded on ESPN for ranking him the 40th best player in the NBA, calling them “a bunch of idiots.”
I guess this is Mission Accomplished for ESPN, because now people are going to talk about their player rankings and Kobe’s reaction to their player rankings like they actually matter instead of embracing them as the offseason filler they actually are. Specifically, ESPN is going to talk about Kobe’s ranking and quote ad nauseum. ESPN is going to love this because now they have a debate they can really embrace and sink their teeth into. Fire up the ESPN Echo Chamber.
