There have been some hard feelings aimed at Jameis Winston and the Florida State football program all season long. But few sportswriters made those feelings known in such a way as Ann Killion of the San Francisco Chronicle did on Saturday. During FSU’s game with Boston College, she had this tweet (since deleted) imploring the Eagles to “beat the rapist”…

Killion is one of three finalists for the California Sportswriter of the Year Award. Her editor had this to say in support of her:
“Ann Killion provides an honest, declarative voice in a sportswriting environment cluttered with noise,” said Al Saracevic, The Chronicle’s sports editor. “If she’s not the sportswriter of the year, I’d like to meet whoever’s better.”
Declarative might be an understatement. Killion also had this to say after taking heat from FSU Twitter:
oops. Sorry. I forgot the word "alleged." My bad.

Death threats. Nice.

Winston was accused of a 2012 sexual assault, but was not charged by the state attorney in 2013. A university hearing has been delayed till December.
